Competitive timelines are how you see cadence, gaps and copycat timing at a glance. Once the structure is in place, the same canvas holds your own roadmap.

One track per product line

1. Create a track for each line you want to compare, for example iPhone, Pixel and Galaxy.
2. Give each track a distinct colour so the eye can follow one line across a busy decade.
3. Optionally add a track per form factor or price tier if that is the axis you care about.

Points for launches, ranges for availability

A launch is a point: a single date. Availability is a range: announce to release, on sale to discontinued, or supported to end-of-life. Modelling both makes the overlap obvious.

• Announcement, point event on the announce date.
• General availability, point event on the on-sale date.
• Sales window, range from on-sale to discontinued.
• Ongoing support, range marked as ongoing so it stretches to the present.

Import the last decade in one go

Nobody wants to type a decade of launches by hand. Build the timeline from the canonical JSON format, ask the research assistant to populate it, or drive it from an agent over MCP. Every write path still derives the internal date keys for you, so imports stay consistent with hand-entered data.
